Bio

Co-chair, Studio Division. Head, Visual Communications Program. McMahon's work, which includes graphic design, photo/text installations, limited edition books and other printed matter, has been shown internationally and is in the Artist Book Collections of the New York Public Library and the Center for Creative Photography. Her teaching focuses on the relationship between design and culture and the social, theoretical, political and philosophical aspects of the professional practice. Her research explores the cultural constructions and representations of motherhood and the politics of intimacy within the family. Her writing is published in Mother Reader: Essential Writings on Motherhood edited by Moyra Davey and her practice is described in Clean New World: Culture, Politics, and Graphic Design by Maud Lavin
