comprised of Steve Hale, Dave Hardy, Sr., Dave Hyatt, Jim Jarchow, Marcia Lincoln, Hugh McCrystal, Howard Lawler and Frank Retes, decided to establish a local herpetological society in Tucson. The initial goal was to hold monthly meetings with presentations on reptiles and amphibians. The first such meeting was held in January, 1988. Since then THS has become incorporated as a non-profit organization, published a monthly newsletter journal, opened a student chapter based on the University of Arizona campus, and has deve-
loped a range of educational out-
reach programs and publications.
