COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course covers
the fundamentals
of Fine Art Lithography.
Projects will cover
the traditional and
photographic applications
of fine art lithography
stressing technology,
aesthetics, and concept.
Lithography’s
digital applications
will be covered for
students already
familiar with digital
imaging techniques.
CRITIQUES
For all except
the last project,
there
will be group
critiques
followed by individual
critiques. The
group critiques
are intended
to foster discussions
about the projects
as well as about
larger philosophical
issues. During
the individual
critiques,
the instructor
will explain
the grade
for the project
as related to
aesthetic
merit, conceptual
depth, and technical
accomplishment.
GRADING

90% of final
grade will
be based
upon the
average
of
the 4 assigned
projects.
10% will
be based
upon
attitude/performance
(as defined
by
attendance;
interest
in and enthusiasm
in own work;
initiative – doing
more than
the minimum
to get by;
participation
in discussions,

permission
of instructor.
An excess
of 3 unexcused
absences
will
eliminate
all attitude/performance
points
(see
above),
and an excess
of
5 unexcused
absences
will
be cause
for a failing
grade.
Demonstrations,
class discussions
and critiques
can not
be
repeated – the
instructor
will be
limited
in his
ability
to provide
missed
information
without
disrupting
the course
for others.
