Winner of the 1985 Tony Award for Best Play! The second hilarious installment of Neil Simon's acclaimed autobiographical trilogy follows a naïve Eugene Jerome through his weeks at boot camp in Biloxi, Mississippi. His sadistic drill sergeant—who might just be nuts—is only part of Eugene's awakening journey in which he encounters an odd and eclectic group of fellow recruits, and his first experiences with sex and love. In the end, our young, aspiring writer takes away more than just his basic training.

Adult content and language.

The last play from the trilogy, Broadway Bound, will be performed next season.

This production is offered through the generous support of the 2006 Summer Arts Festival, a program of the Office of Summer and Winter Session.

Tartuffe

by Molière

(translated from the French by Harold Dixon)

October 8-29

Laboratory Theatre

Few villains in the world of theatre are as conniving, ruthless and outrageously comical as Molière's devoutly unscrupulous Tartuffe, the holier-than-thou hypocrite who uses religious piety to worm his way into the lives of an aristocratic 17th-century family. When the wife of the duped head of the house unfolds a plot to reveal Tartuffe's true nature, we are treated to one of the funniest scenes in Western drama.

How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying

Book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock & Willie Gilbert

Music & Lyrics by Frank Loesser

Based upon the book by Shepherd Mead

November 3 – December 3

Marroney Theatre

How To Succeed Thumbnail

Winner of the 1962 Pulitzer Prize! Long before Trump's Apprentice, there was J. Pierpont Finch, a young window washer, who, with the help of a small self-help book and an entire secretarial pool, climbs the corporate ladder of success to the top of World Wide Wickets. How to Succeed... has a knockout Frank Loesser (Guys and Dolls) score that remains fresh and fun with songs like "I Believe in You," "Brotherhood of Man," and "A Secretary is Not a Toy."

by Harold Pinter

February 4 – 25

Laboratory Theatre

Presented in honor of Mr. Pinter's 2005 Noble Prize for Literature. This poignant story of marital infidelity unfolds as one of Harold Pinter's most acclaimed works of art for the stage. The play begins at the end of the affair, then each of nine short scenes of this compelling drama moves backwards in time to the fateful moment when the infidelity began. This is an enthralling study of betrayal that only a masterful playwright could envision.

Romeo and Juliet

by William Shakespeare

February 25 – March 25

Marroney Theatre

The power of Shakespeare's great tragic love story comes from the incomparably vivid poetry giving us the full, rich images of the story's stark contrasts: immature love and long-standing hate, humor and sorrow, peace and strife, life and death. The tale of forbidden passion between two star-crossed lovers from feuding families is as timeless as literature itself. Our production promises a bold design to accentuate the timelessness of the story, characters, and, of course, Shakespeare's unforgettable poetry.

Mature themes and violence.

The Who's TOMMY

Music & Lyrics by Pete Townshend

Book by Pete Townshend and Des McAnuff

April 6 – 29

It's been 37 years since The Who originally recorded their rock opera masterpiece Tommy, but this psychedelic story about the "deaf, dumb and blind kid" who becomes an international superstar Pinball Wizard now rocks on stage with a power like nothing else in Broadway's history. When The Who's TOMMY opened on Broadway, it became an instant hit and touring companies continue performing it the world over. Besides "Pinball Wizard," the Tony Award-winning score's highlights include "Acid Queen," "See Me, Feel Me," and "Tommy, Can You Hear Me?"
