About the School of Theatre Arts

The School of Theatre Arts has been a free-standing theatre program since the mid-thirties, one of the oldest in the nation. Since its beginning the school's thrust has been a highly active production program. Today the school provides intensive production and academic training for students preparing for careers in the theatre.

The School's faculty guides and evaluates the work and progress of students through a blend of academic and practical experiences in which theory is applied through performance. Faculty members mentor, advise and evaluate students throughout their training and academic careers.

The School of Theatre Arts is a member of the University/Resident Theatre Association (U/RTA), which serves to integrate the academic and professional theatres across the nation, and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST).
