About the School of Theatre Arts
The School of Theatre Arts has been a free-standing theatre program since the mid-thirties, one of the oldest in the nation. Since its beginning the school's thrust has been a highly active production program. Who Needs to Audition?
Incoming Freshmen applying to the BFA Professional Actor Training Program and/or the BFA in Musical Theatre
Transfer Students applying to the BFA Professional Actor Training Program and/or the BFA in Musical Theatre
Audition Requirements

Resume should include name, address, phone number, and email address.
Professional Actor Training Program Audition Requirements: One monologue from the School of Theatre Arts’ approved list. These are the only monologues that will be required or heard at the auditions.
BFA in Musical Theatre Audition Requirements: One monologue from the School of Theatre Arts’ approved list. These are the only monologues that will be required or heard at the auditions.
AND
TWO Musical Theatre songs. Sing two contrasting Musical Theatre songs: one ballad and one up-tempo. Each song should be 32 measures. An accompanist will be provided in Tucson ONLY. Bring your music in the key you will be singing. For the Tucson auditions, you may not sing with a tape.
Videotape/DVD Audition Requirements
Videotape/DVD auditions will be accepted if you cannot attend the auditions in person. The same rules for the Acting or Musical Theatre auditions above apply (including approved monologues limitations). Videotapes should be in standard VHS format and must be received by 5:00 PM, Friday, February 15 for fall admissions. (no late submissions accepted). Include your picture and resume and state whether you are auditioning for the BFA Acting program or BFA Musical Theatre Program. Also, state whether you will be entering as a freshman or as a transfer student. Please label your tape or dvd with your name, address, and phone number.
