The University of Arizona

Symphonic Band (formerly Campus Band)

more information

Symphonic Band is a large concert band which performs a variety of wind band literature and is geared toward musicians who desire a quality band experience. This ensemble is open to all interested University students, faculty, and staff. You do not have to be a music major to participate! Auditions are required for seating placement and will begin two days before school starts and continue through the first full week of classes. The audition materials for all instruments are here at this website. Sign-up sheets for the auditions will be posted on the bulletin board outside of Rm 147 in the School of Music, where the auditions will be held. The ensemble will have its first rehearsal the second week of school.

There is a great diversity of students in this ensemble, most of whom want to continue to play their instrument from high school or even learn a secondary instrument.

There are instruments available to rent from the School of Music for $20.00 per semester and are based on availability.

The Symphonic Band is scheduled in the Fall and Spring semesters on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. For the Spring semester, there are usually enough students to form a second enemble. The Campus Band for the Spring semester does not require an audition to participate.

The course numbers to register for this class are MUS 200C for freshman and sophomores and MUS 400C for upper division students, and MUS 500C for graduate students.
