Dean’s Message

The College of Fine Arts at The University of Arizona enjoys a 'world class' reputation. Its accomplished faculty and alumni contribute to Tucson's popular identity as 'The City of the Arts.' New art forms and innovative technologies complement strong foundations and traditional skills that take full advantage of the interactive environment of the College of Fine Arts which was recently enhanced by an expanded facility, completed in 1995.

As artists, designers, educators and scholars of the arts, we are committed to the continued expansion of our knowledge, talents and skills. Our goal, as it has been throughout the life of the college, is to establish 'cutting edge' contributions to the variety of disciplines represented within the many arts study options.

The divergent structure of our programs continually addresses the shifting nature of art; each member of our faculty maintains strong enthusiasm, not only for his or her own work and research, but for cultivating the greatest possible potential for students who study with us. In addition to a long tradition of distinguished faculty, our history cannot be separated from the significant list of students who have graduated from our programs--in Art, Dance, Media Arts, Music, and Theatre Arts.

As Dean, I have been working diligently to ensure quality programs and to achieve a momentum of excellence within the college that will maintain our long-term reputation as a leading institution for the study and production of the arts. We invite you to join us in our continuing effort.
